TURKISH FIG BECOMES ROYAL FAVOUR!

Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association Chairman Hayrettin Uçak said that black figs are mostly sent to European countries and that efforts to expand the market continue, especially they are working overtime to increase the export figures in the Far East market.

Uçak said, “The world’s best quality figs grow in Turkey. Last year, we sent black figs to 45 countries, including Germany with $ 17 million, England and the Netherlands with $ 5 million, Austria with $ 3 million, France, Russia and Hong Kong with $ 2 million. Our exports increased by 22 percent in 2019. Our black fig export, which was 14 thousand 794 tons in 2018, reached 17 thousand 697 tons in 2019. We aim to increase this to 50 countries in the coming period.”

“Our figs are in demand from even the most distant destinations. The export of black figs made by air cargo reached 1 million 124 thousand dollars in 2019. The cut date of yellow fig is July 25 and the export date is July 26. We sent yellow figs to 35 countries last year, generating an income of 5 million 569 thousand dollars. We are also very pleased with the quality and efficiency this year,” Uçak noted.

Contains two times more calcium than milk…

Reminding that black fig has entered the kitchen of the British Royal family, Uçak added, “All vitamins are available except vitamin C. There is twice as much calcium as milk. It even contains omega-3 and omega-6, which are found in high amounts in the fish. A complete antioxidant tank. It affects skin and heart health, healthy functioning of the brain and nervous system, and immune system.”
