In the January-March period of this year, 558 tonnes of anchovies were exported. An income of 2 million 852 thousand 503 dollars was obtained from this export.
Anchovy exports decreased by 32 percent on amount compared to the same period of the last year, but increased by 15 percent on value basis.

During this period, Turkey sold anchovies to 23 countries, meanwhile France, Belgium and the US ranked as the top 3 countries.
In the first three months of the year, Turkey provided 918 thousand 575 dollars from the export of 148 tonnes of anchovy to France. It was noteworthy that exports to France increased by 31 percent in quantity and 61 percent in value.
Belgium followed France with 841,746 dollars and the United States with 328,851 dollars.
On the other hand, unlike last year’s January-March period, anchovies were sold to the United Kingdom, Australia, Bulgaria, Kuwait and Azerbaijan-Nakhchivan this year.
“We need to maintain the sustainability of anchovy”
Ahmet Hamdi Gürdoğan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), said that although there was a decrease in the amount of anchovy, one of the important products of the Black Sea, compared to last year, the increase in value continued.
