Turgay Türkyılmaz, General Director of Fisheries and Aquaculture at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, stated that studies indicate an abundance of anchovies and horse mackerel this year.

Türkyılmaz announced that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will hold the official opening ceremony in Black Sea province of Trabzon this year and that events will be held in every coastal province.
“The highest bonito catch in the last 15 years”
Pointing out that the significant spike in bonito and large bonito catches last year, Türkyılmaz said, “The highest bonito catch in the last 15 years. The quantity of smaller fish like anchovies, sardines and large bonito has decreased. We expect no significant increase in production of bonito and large bonito this year.”
Good news for abundance…
Informing that the promise of a good season based on scientific studies and feedback from the provincial directorates of Agriculture and Forestry, Türkyılmaz noted, “The abundance would be beneficial for both those who make their living from the sea and consumers.”
“There will be an abundance of production in small fish like anchovies and horse mackerel. The first indicators appear to be starting in the Sea of Marmara. However, climatic factors significantly alter the structure of the seas. Even a 0.1-degree increase in the scientific world recommends reconsidering all studies,” he added…
