Our book, “I Live in Türkiye, I Know What I Eat – CHEESE,” was named “Best in the World” at the Gourmand Awards 2025 and has been named the Best Cheese Book of the Last 30 Years!

This remarkable success of our book, published by Vakıfbank Kültür Yayınları (Vakıfbank Cultural Publications), is a testament to the international value placed on Türkiye’s cheese heritage.
Gourmand Awards founder Edouard Cointreau, presenting the award at the Saudi Feast Food Festival, said:
“We thank Berrin Bal Onur and Neşe Aksoy Biber for this work, which is a heartfelt tribute to cheese, one of Türkiye’s most precious gastronomic treasures. The book beautifully combines in-depth knowledge of cheesemaking with the country’s rich cheese diversity. Thank you for reconnecting readers with this cultural heritage and carrying it into the future through children.”

This award:
- Recognizes a lasting value that instills in our children the awareness of “who we are and what we eat,”
- Respect for the fertile lands of Anatolia and its producers possessing ancient knowledge,
- Recognizes the place our cheesemaking deserves on the international stage…
We were unable to attend the ceremony, but we are very happy and proud!
Thank you, Edouard Cointreau.
Thank you, Vakıfbank Cultural Publications.
Thank you, all the cheese producers who work in this land…
And all the families who read our book with their children…
