Tangerines, the leading export in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, are going from strength to strength in 2025. After achieving 114 million dollars in exports in October, tangerine reached 239 million dollars in exports in November.
Stating that they achieved a 61 percent spike in tangerine exports in the 11-month period, Hayrettin Uçak, Chair of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, said that tangerine exports, which were 381 million dollars in the January – November period of 2024 would rise to 615 million dollars in the same period of 2025.
‘We are making history in mandarin orange exports in 2025,’ said Uçak, adding, “We have more than doubled our tangerine exports from 298 million dollars in 2015 over a 10-year period. We managed to break the 2023 tangerine export record of 575 million dollars in 11 months in 2025. With the exports we will realise in December, we will reach 750-800 million dollars. We will strive to exceed 1 billion dollars annually in tangerine exports in 2026 and subsequent years.”
Emphasising that tangerine exports soared by 18 percent in terms of volume, from 583,000 tonnes to 690,000 tonnes, Uçak continued: “Thirty-two per cent of the 2.13 million tonnes tangerine harvest in 2025 has been exported. With the exports we will make in December, we will have exported 35-40 per cent of the harvest.
Tangerines were by far the leading export among fresh fruit and vegetable products in 2025. Over an 11-month period, mandarin orange exports reached 615 million dollars, while tomato exports, in second place, amounted to 348 million dollars and lemon exports, in third place, reached 336 million dollars…
