Honey harvesting has started in Sivas province, which ranks second across Türkiye in terms of the number of beekeeping enterprises, first in the country in beeswax production and fourth in honey production.
SIX THOUSAND 500 TONNES OF HONEY YIELD ESTIMATED…
Sivas region, which ranks fourth in honey production in Türkiye, continues its claim to have a say with organic honey and bee products. In Sivas, which has a large surface area and hosts many species in terms of plant flora and endemic plants, 6 thousand 500 tonnes of honey production is expected. Sivas Governor Yılmaz Şimşek, who visited Ahmethacı village of Zara district, also harvested honey.
THREE THOUSAND 750 BEEKEEPERS PRODUCE HONEY…
Stating that approximately 6,500 tonnes of honey production is expected this year in Sivas province, where there are 3,750 producers, Governor Şimşek said, “Sivas is an important agricultural and livestock centre of our country and beekeeping is a prominent activity in this sense. Because our province is extremely suitable for beekeeping. Besides, there is a great increase in the number of enterprises in our province. In terms of the number of beekeeping enterprises, our province is currently the second in Türkiye.”
“In total, there are around 3 thousand 750 beekeeping enterprises in our province. We rank fourth in honey production in our country. There is approximately 6 thousand 500 tonnes of honey production. Hopefully, with such efforts and studies, we aim to carry the number of beekeeping enterprises and honey production in our province to even higher levels and better points,” he added…
