Press release…

The fishery sector, one of the stars of exports in Türkiye, doubled its exports in the last 5 years, from 1 billion 10 million dollars to 2 billion 20 million dollars.

In the last 5 years, the country’s exports ramped up by 58 percent from 166 billion dollars to 262 billion dollars. The fishery sector doubled Türkiye’s export growth rate.

The number of fishery facilities in the country, which was 1,245 in 2002, increased by 94 percent to 2,427 by the end of 2024. This increase was also reflected in production. The fishery capacity, which was 50 thousand tonnes in 2002, reached 850 thousand tonnes by the end of 2024.

The spike in production brought about a leap in exports. Sinan Kızıltan, Chairman of the Turkish Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Associations Sector Board, stated that Türkiye’s seafood exports soared by 100 percent in 5 years.

Highlighting that Turkish seafood products are consumed with great appreciation all over the world, Kızıltan added, “The menus prepared with Turkish seafood products are among the most preferred ones across the world’s most famous restaurants.”
