SAFFET KALYONCU: TURKIYE’S HONEY EXPORTS SOARED BY 75 PERCENT IN THE FIRST HALF

Turkiye’s honey exports in the first half of the year soared by 75 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. In the January-June 2022 period, 8,892 tonnes of honey was exported to 46 countries and an income of 23 million 829 thousand 670 dollars was obtained.

According to the information compiled from the data of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB), 8,892 tonnes of honey were exported to 46 countries in the January-June 2022 period. A revenue of 23 million 829 thousand 670 dollars was obtained from this export. Accordingly, the first 6-month exports increased by 134 percent in quantity and 75 percent in value compared to the same period of 2021, which generated 13 million 597 thousand 813 dollars in return for 3 thousand 800 tonnes of honey.

The USA, Germany and Spain were the countries with the highest exports.

The USA ranked first in honey exports with 7 million 904 thousand 362 dollars. This country was followed by Germany with 3 million 640 thousand 94 dollars and Spain with 3 million 378 thousand 193 dollars.

DKİB Chairman of the Board Saffet Kalyoncu said that Turkiye closed 6 months of the year with an increase in honey exports.

Expressing that honey is a product that contributes significantly to the country’s economy, Kalyoncu added that Turkiye has very important potentials for honey production in terms of flora diversity.
