Distinguished guests and dear friends,
It is my pleasure and great honour to welcome you to the XVIII. European Symposium on the Quality of Eggs and Egg Products and XXIV. European Symposium on the Quality of Poultry Meat which starts today in Çeşme.
This is the second time that this meeting is being held in Turkey. The IX. European Symposium on the Quality of Eggs and Egg Products & XV. European Symposium on the Quality of Poultry Meat also took place in Çeşme in 2001.
Efforts have been made to ensure that the program for the symposium will effectively cover all aspects of egg and meat quality. The symposium consists of a total of twelve sessions.
We are happy to see that this symposium has attracted interest from all over the world. Renowned scientists and industry representatives from 31 countries are participating including Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czechia, Croatia, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom and the United States.
Together with the Turkish participants, the total number of participants is around 300.
We are honoured by the presence of the Governor of İzmir Mr. Erol Ayyıldız, Rector of Ege University Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak, the Secretary of the WPSA Dr. Roel Mulder, President of the WPSA European Federation, Prof. Dr. Estella Prukner-Radovčić and the Secretary and Treasurer of the WPSA European Federation Prof. Dr. Michael Grashorn.
I would like to express my gratitude to the chairperson of Working Group 4, Dr. Cristina Alamprese, chairperson of Working Group 5, Prof. Dr. Massimiliano Petracci and the members of the Scientific Committee for preparing such a comprehensive and exceptional programme. I would like to thank the Organising Committee for their great effort to realise these symposia and especially the sponsors who made it possible.
I would like to thank all the participating scientists who will contribute to the sessions with their valuable papers and the chairpersons who will manage these sessions.
I am confident that the presentations will contribute to the dissemination of the latest knowledge on the topics, and form a basis for new discussions and further research.
I wish you a productive meeting and pleasant stay in the beautiful resort town of Çeşme.
