In a written statement, Dr. Artık commented on recent social media posts regarding additives in milk, dairy products and packaged foods.

Drawing attention to posts about food labels on products on the shelves, Dr. Artık said, “We regret to see that some social media influencers’ posts focusing on the labels of foods such as cheese on supermarket shelves have recently caused serious misinformation among the public.”

Dr. Artık warned that these posts cause unnecessary concern among consumers and that presenting additives used in accordance with regulations as ‘harmful’ and ‘unhealthy’ is completely contrary to scientific facts.

Emphasising that food safety is an issue that must be addressed within the framework of scientific data, risk analyses and regulations, Dr. Artık explained, “Food businesses are monitored 24/7 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and that non-compliant products are disclosed to the public.”

‘Packaged products are among the most reliable product groups’

Highlighting that packaged milk and dairy products are subject to inspection and registration under the Turkish Food Codex, he added, “These products are regularly inspected by the General Directorate of Food and Control. Factories are monitored at many stages, from raw materials to the final product and then to the shelves, with samples taken and analyses conducted. Packaged products are among the most transparent and reliable product groups in terms of food safety due to these aspects.”
