The current experiencing has created uneasiness in poultry sector just after eggs and pasta crisis between Turkey and Iraq.
Stating that they had some signals regarding poultry exports seriously stagnates to Iraq, White Meat Industrialists and Breeders Association (BESD-BİR) Chairman Dr. Sait Koca said, “What we have wondered in this case, is there an action against Turkey or did Iraq’s general policy is that? Iraq’s rationale is to encourage their domestic production, but there is not such a system. No production
increase at once.”
Dr. Sait Koca reminded that Turkey takes the first place in terms of poultry import of Iraq. What is more, the main competitor country, Brazil can not handle with Turkey at prices.
He also unveiled that China might be a new and alternative market for Turkey.
“Iraq in the first six months of this year made 200 thousand tons of chicken imports from Turkey. But in the case of Iraq to stop the chicken imports from Turkey, the Chinese would be an alternative market. Besides China’s poultry consumption is as half of Turkey. So we have the potential to close this gap in China. Now we are working on this issue” he concluded…
