Kayseri Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Şahin said that Turkey as one of the leading egg exporting countries takes third place in the world by 2019.
Mustafa Şahin stated, “In the last nine years, egg exports climbed to 4.5 million units from 195 million units and the share of egg exports in production increased to 29.70 percent while it was 2.42 percent in 2006. This shows that our export potential has reached a good level in parallel with the amount of production.”
Şahin also noted, “When the countries that are exported are analyzed, we can see that most of the neighboring countries around our country are in the majority. However, due to instability in these countries and their national policies, we are losing our important export market.”
Pointing out that poultry sector then tried to move to other countries, Şahin added, “Exports have started to various countries such as Qatar, UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Turkic Republics.”
“About 10 trucks and 3.5-4 million eggs are sent to these countries on a weekly basis from our province. In other words, we send one out of every three eggs produced in our province abroad,” Şahin concluded…
