Vegetable oil sector aims to export 1 billion 250 million dollars…
Turkey exported 503.8 million dollars of vegetable oil to 140 countries in the 5-month period of 2021. Vegetable oil industrialists succeeded in increasing their exports of 380,6 million dollars by 32 percent in the January-May period of 2020.
Noting that while Turkey’s vegetable oil exports were 406 thousand 475 tonnes in the first five months of 2020, it realised as 368 thousand 124 tonnes in the January-May period of 2021, Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association Chairperson Mustafa Terci said, “Despite the decrease of 9 percent on the quantity basis, the foreign exchange income has increased by 32 percent.”

Underlining that vegetable oil exports have surged by 46 percent on a foreign exchange basis, Terci explained, “As Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association, we contributed 120 million dollars to Turkey’s vegetable oil exports. The prominent countries in Turkey’s exports were Iraq with 84 million dollars, Syria with 51 million dollars of vegetable oil demand and Libya with 50 million dollars.”
“The markets to which we export more than the Aegean Region are; Libya with 38 million dollars, Yemen with 34.7 million dollars and Tunisia with 13.7 million dollars. We expect our vegetable oil exports, which was 981 million dollars in 2020, to reach 1 billion 250 million dollars by the end of 2021,” Terci added…
