Stating that the exports of agricultural products of the EİB reached 1 billion 186 million dollars in the first quarter of 2021, the Chairperson of the Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, Mustafa Terci continued as follows:

“Food products constitute 160 billion dollars of the US imports of approximately 2.6 trillion dollars. In 2020, our food exports to the USA across Turkey are at the level of 970 million dollars. We want to expand this figure to 1.5 billion dollars in 2023. Cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products are at the top of our food industries in which we are strong in the US market, with an export of 373 million dollars. In the sector, our exports to the USA in general have increased by 43 percent in the last 3 years. Within our exports from the Aegean region to the USA, we recorded an increase of 61 percent in the last 3 years.”

“Our goal is to boost our exports to the USA to 1 billion dollars with our wide product range from vegetable oils, spices, oilseeds such as poppy seeds to sugary products, legumes to coffee. With the world’s first and only state-sponsored branding programme, we will continue to effectively execute our strategy that leads us to institutionalize and create strong value-added brands. During the pandemic period, we saw once again that countries that act in accordance with the era in agriculture and production policies and dominate the food market will always have a say,” Terci added.

The event ended with the information on healthy recipes given by Burak Hucuptan, Member of the Board of Directors of Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association, regarding Turkish Pasta with Cheese Sauce, Mediterranean salad with poppy and sauces made from bulghur.
