Türkiye’s 6-month exports of cat and dog food soared by 27 percent to 73 million dollars…
The Turkish cat-dog food sector, which has ramped up its exports 27 times in the last 10 years, continued its exports without slowing down in the first half of 2024. Pet friends in 91 countries were fed with food produced in Türkiye.
Türkiye’s cat-dog food exports increased by 26.5 percent in the first half of 2024, from 57.7 million dollars to 73 million dollars. The number of countries to which the country exports cat-dog food was 91.
Stating that they left the year 2023 behind with an export figure of 122 million dollars in the cat and dog food sector, Muhammet Öztürk, Head of the Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters Association (EHBYMIB), said that they made a successful entry into the second century of the Republic.
Informing that people’s pet ownership has surged in recent years, Öztürk said, “With the pandemic, pet ownership has accelerated even more. The cat-dog food sector has made great progress both in the domestic market and in exports. New investments are coming to the cat-dog food sector. It seems that the sector will leave 2024 behind with exports of 150 million dollars. We foresee that the exports of the sector will reach 500 million dollars in the next 5 years.”
62 percent of cat-dog food exports were made from the Aegean Region…
Pointing out that the cat-dog food sector is clustered in the Aegean Region and dominates the country’s exports in this sector, Öztürk continued as follows; “While cat-dog food manufacturers and exporters who are members of our Aegean Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association exported 35 million dollars of food in the first half of 2023, they exported 45 million 50 thousand dollars in the January-June period of 2024. 62 percent of cat-dog food exports were carried out by EHBYMIB members.”
Malaysia and Iraq, leading countries in exports…
In the first half of 2024, the number of cat-dog food exported from Türkiye was 91 countries, while Malaysia continued to be the leader. Cat and dog food exports to Malaysia, which was 8 billion dollars in the January – June period of 2023, rose by 35 percent to 11 million dollars in the same period of 2024.
While exporting 4.8 million dollars of cat-dog food to Iraq in the first half of 2023, it boosted to 7.5 million dollars with a 54 percent progress in 2024. These countries were followed by Israel, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Jordan, Jordan, England, Lebanon, Germany and Bulgaria…
