The 12th Financial and 13th Elective Ordinary General Assembly Meetings of the National Cotton Council (UPK) were held together on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, hosted by the Izmir Commodity Exchange.
At the meeting held with the participation of member organizations and representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Activity and Audit Reports of the Board of Directors for the previous term and the budget for the next term were discussed and unanimously accepted.
As a result of the elections, the new boards of the National Cotton Council were formed as follows:
Board of Directors: Selahattin Güneş (ÇUKOBİRLİK), Ali Şimşek (TARİŞ), Bülent Uçak (İzmir Commodity Exchange), Mehmet Kaya (Şanlıurfa Commodity Exchange), Bertan Balçık (Söke Oil Inc.), Nuri Uz (Aegean Exporters’ Associations), Ali Ulvi Karahan (TUTSIS), Fuat Tanman (IPUD), Şeref Iyiuyarlar (General Cotton Ginning Co. Ltd.), Dr. Mehmet Hasdemir (General Director of Plant Production)

In the first Board of Directors meeting held after the member elections, the distribution of duties was made and Bertan Balçık was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mehmet Kaya as the Vice Chairman and Ali Şimşek as the Treasurer.
It was also stated that the tradition of holding Board of Directors meetings with the participation of full and substitute members will continue in this period in order to expand the representation of the country’s cotton industry in the Council.
