Türkiye’s southwestwern province of Muğla, the capital of the country in fishery production and exports, exported 815 million dollars in 2024. Bedri Girit, Chair of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters Association, stated that the sector has the potential to surpass 1 billion dollars in exports in the near future.

Speaking at the ‘Business World Meetings-Muğla Meeting’ organised by the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) hosted by the Muğla Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Girit informed that Muğla province exported 1 billion 296 million dollars in 2024 against 397 million dollars of imports.
“Muğla exported 326 million dollars for every 100 dollars of imports. We congratulate our exporters from Muğla, we have come to inform them about state supports in order to use state supports more effectively in order to increase these successes,” Girit said.
Emphasising that Muğla stands out in the production and export of pine honey as well as the export of aquaculture products, Girit explained, “Muğla is also an important mining centre. ‘Muğla White’ is a marble variety preferred all over the world. Muğla exported 122 million dollars worth of minerals in 2024. The mining sector was the second largest sector in Muğla’s exports. This region is also one of the country’s important citrus production centres, exported 36.5 million dollars worth of fresh fruit and vegetables in 2024. Our ship yacht sector contributed 34 million dollars to Muğla’s exports and our cereals, pulses and oil seeds sector contributed 32 million dollars.”
