While dried apricot exports were 80 thousand 388 tonnes on quantity basis in the 2022/23 season, the foreign currency equivalent was 434 million 272 thousand dollars.

While the average export price of dried apricots was 5 thousand 402 dollars per tonne in the 2022/23 season, it increased by 10.5 percent to 5 thousand 967 dollars in the 2023/24 season. Thanks to this increase, dried apricot exports decreased by 17 percent on quantity basis, while the decrease in foreign exchange earnings was limited to 8 percent.

Işık: “We aim to export 107 thousand tonnes of dried apricots in the 2024/25 season”

Stating that they entered the 2024/25 season with the goal of ‘Golden year’ in yellow apricot, Mehmet Ali Işık, Head of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, said, “We entered the season with a projected yield of 107 thousand tonnes and 20 thousand tonnes of stock and we aim to diversify our export markets by exporting 100 thousand tonnes next season and to deliver more dried apricots to world consumers.”

Pointing out that this year, weather conditions ramped up the production of dried apricots, Işık noted, “We will make moves to boost the market for dried apricots. We will focus on distant markets such as the United States, India, Australia, China, Japan, Brazil, South Korea. A season in which we will deliver dried apricots, which we are the world leader in production and export, to more consumers awaits us. In 2013, we exported 117 thousand tonnes. There are seasons when we exported around 100 thousand tonnes. We will work to repeat the same success in this season. The network of Turkish exporters provides this export.”
