Aiming to ramp up its exports to the United States—which imports 240 billion dollars worth of food products annually—to 5 billion dollars, the Turkish food sector took part in the 45th Natural Products Expo West trade fair, held in Anaheim, California, from 4 to 6 March 2026, with 25 companies.

Organised by the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) as part of the Turkish National Participation Programme, the Natural Products Expo West Fair showcased healthy snacks, ready-to-eat foods, dried fruits and natural and organic products.
Mehmet Ali Işık, Sustainability and Organic Products Coordinator at the Aegean Exporters’ Associations and Chair of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, who noted that this marked the fourth time the Turkish National Participation Organisation had organised the event, said, “We demonstrated the Aegean Region’s status as the world’s food granary.”
Pointing out that the Turkish food sector had increased its exports to the US by 121 per cent over the past five years, rising from 781 million dollars to 1 billion 727 million dollars, Işık explained “Healthy eating is a rising trend in America. From our olive oil to dried fruits, from seafood to fruit and vegetable products, from our spices to our fresh produce and from healthy snacks to our organic products, we aim to make our growth in the US market sustainable by introducing the healthiest flavours of the Mediterranean cuisine to the US.”

“We have been participating in the New York Fancy Food Show in the US market for 30 years. To increase our food exports to the US, we launched our TURQUALITY project named ‘Turkish Tastes’ in 2018 and established a promotional framework in the US market through the Natural Products Expo West Fair. We believe that over the next 10 years, our food exports to the US will exceed 5 billion dollars,” he added…
