Nejdat Sin, Coordinator Chairman of Mediterranean Exporters’ Associations (AKİB) and Chairman of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, announced that they realized 41 percent of Turkiye’s 3.08 billion dollars of fresh fruit and vegetable exports in 2021. Sin also noted that with this export of 1.25 billion dollars, as AKİB, they continue to be the leader of the industry by far.

Sin stated that in the process where close locations came to the forefront due to the increase in freight prices on a global scale and the problems of not finding containers, Turkey has achieved significant advantages in the export of fresh fruits and vegetables in the CIS, Europe and Middle East markets by combining its production power and geographical location.

Sin said, “Fresh fruit and vegetable exports of our country soared by 13 percent compared to the previous year and reached 3 billion 82 million dollars. Our industry, which adds value to a total of 5 million 26 thousand tonnes of products in international markets, was supported by our Çukurova provinces, which have fertile lands and rich agricultural product diversity. Mersin was at the top of our provinces that exported the most fresh fruits and vegetables, with a value of 673.3 million dollars. Hatay came in third with a value of 482.2 million dollars and Adana in seventh place with a value of 126.4 million dollars.”

“As AKİB, we realized 68 percent of the total export sales of 934.8 million dollars in 2021 in citrus, which constitutes the most important product group in Turkey’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports,” Sin added…
