The Marmara Olive Agricultural Sales Cooperatives Union (Marmarabirlik) is preparing to bring Turkish olives, exported to 65 countries, to the shelves in the form of olive oil-based spreadable chocolate and cosmetic products. Ali Yıldız, Chairman of the Marmarabirlik Board of Directors, announced that they are ready to supply to the market the spreadable chocolate that does not contain palm oil, but contains olive oil and this will soon be on the shelves.
Marmarabirlik was established in 1954 through mutual aid and solidarity among olive producers in the region stretching from the eastern shores of Lake Iznik to Mürefte in Thrace in the west, along the southern shores of the Sea of Marmara. In 2025, Marmarabirlik sold 35 million dollars worth of olives to 65 countries, achieving the highest export figures in its history. Olives produced by 30,000 members of cooperatives in Gemlik, Mudanya, Orhangazi and Iznik in Bursa, Erdek, Edincik, Marmara Island in Balıkesir and Mürefte in Tekirdağ are processed into table olives, olive oil and olive paste and reach tables both domestically and abroad.
‘WE HAVE AROUND 300 PRODUCTS’
Ali Yıldız, Chairman of the Marmarabirlik Board of Directors, said, “We have a wide range of products. We have around 300 products in terms of weight differences, application differences, olive variety differences, olive oil and olive paste.”
Pointing out that depending on consumption habits and packaging preferences, Yıldız added, “We offer various packaged products tailored to different regions. Occasionally, we receive requests like, ‘We want that product; we saw it, we tasted it. Is it still available?’ Our products can be easily found and purchased through our website, all supermarkets in the country and many places around the world.”
