Türkiye, whose flora includes more than 3,500 endemic plant species, exports significant quantities of cut flowers, indoor and outdoor plants, flower bulbs, seedlings, saplings, wreaths and mosses.
Sector representatives, who continue production throughout the year in greenhouses and highlands, sell to 80 countries, primarily the Netherlands.
Yılmaz, Chairman of the Ornamental Plants and Products Exporters’ Association, told an Anatolian Agency (AA) correspondent that the sector had enjoyed a good year in terms of exports.
Emphasising that they exported 117 million dollars in 10 months last year, Yılmaz said, “This year’s 10-month figures are encouraging. There is an increase of approximately 15 per cent in exports in the sector. We are at the 137 million dollars level. 2025 will be the year in which we have achieved the highest exports to date, by the end of the year.”
Yılmaz pointed out that this growth is a significant achievement during a period of economic hardship worldwide and noted that the flower sector will close the year with an increase.

Explaining that flowers are not very expensive but have a high impact, Yılmaz said that this situation has also had a positive effect on sales.
‘We export to over 80 countries’
İsmail Yılmaz reported that, as in previous years, the Netherlands was the top destination for exports during this period.
Highlighting that the Netherlands was followed by countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Bulgaria and Romania, he added, “We export to over 80 countries. We have enhanced our share in existing markets. The Netherlands is the centre for flower collection, from where they are distributed all over the world. Our increase in the Dutch market was higher. We will close the year with a figure close to 155 million dollars, as current orders indicate.”
Yılmaz also noted that they achieved exports worth 141 million dollars last year and are preparing to set a record this year…
