İsa Kızıldemir: Türkiye earns 230 million dollars from pistachio exports

Türkiye earned 229 million 777 thousand dollars from pistachio exports to 96 countries in 2024. Exports, which attracted attention with an increase of 52 per cent compared to last year, were made to many countries, especially Germany.

Last year, Türkiye exported pistachios to 96 countries including Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, China, Tajikistan, England, Albania, United Arab Emirates, India, Turkmenistan, Switzerland, Spain, Poland, Malta, Ghana, Japan, Cuba, Romania and Norway.

Germany is one of the countries to which Türkiye exports the most pistachios. Türkiye sold 49 million 409 thousand dollars worth of pistachios to Germany last year. Germany was followed by Italy with 47 million 523 thousand dollars and Kazakhstan with 12 million 108 thousand dollars.

‘The surging number of trees in the region will boost yield and exports’

Şanlıurfa Commodity Exchange Assembly Chairman İsa Kızıldemir stated that pistachio is an important agricultural product called ‘green gold’ for Southeastern region’s farmers, especially Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep provinces.

Pointing out that pistachios grown in the Southeast are in great demand both in the domestic market and abroad, Kızıldemir said, “We know how important pistachio is for the region and Turkish economy. The fact that the export figures in 2024 exceed the figures of 2023 is an indicator of this. High export figures are very important for the development of our country’s economy and the surge in trade volume. Thanks to the increasing export figures, both farmers, industrialists and exporters won.”

“With the increasing number of trees in our region, we expect the peanut yield to boost in the coming periods and this situation will bring the export figures to more serious dimensions,” Kızıldemir added…
