Haluk Şensoy, an agricultural engineer from the Black Sea province of Ordu, stated that they calculated the cost of one kilogram of hazelnuts to producers as 222 TL and that when the welfare allowance is added, the price should be 310 TL.

Şensoy, who has been regularly analyzing hazelnuts in the province for about 10 years, noted that they have calculated the cost of one kilogram of hazelnuts to producers for 2025. Şensoy noted that significant losses were incurred due to the frost that affected agricultural production nationwide in April. All things considered, one kilogram of hazelnuts costs producers 222 TL and that the base price for hazelnuts in 2025 should be 310 TL.
“This price is crucial for the sustainability of hazelnut farming”
Highlighting that Türkiye’s hazelnut yield has fallen to 402,000 tonnes, while Ordu’s yield has fallen to 64,000 tonnes, according to studies conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Şensoy said, “This yield may also decline. There are significant challenges, and they continue to persist. The Ordu province economy is dependent on hazelnuts, which is why it has been experienced serious losses. After extensive work this year, we have completed the cost estimate for one kilogram of hazelnuts.”
