Press release…
The ‘Turkish Tastes-TURQUALITY Project on the Importance of Turkish Products in Healthy Nutrition’, supported by the Ministry of Trade with the participation of 6 food exporter associations under the roof of the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB), which aims to make Turkish food products more preferred in the USA, the world’s largest food importer, continues successfully.
Aegean Exporters’ Associations Coordinator Chair Jak Eskinazi, EIB Food Associations’ and US chefs Tom Macrina and John Bryne, who were invited to Türkiye for the filming of the Turkish Tastes promotional film, held a press conference.
Hayrettin Uçak, Head of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, stated that with the support of the ambassador chief Tom Macrina, two companies, one from the olive oil and one from the dried fruit sector, became suppliers of US Foods, the second largest food distributor in the USA.
“Our companies will send their products to US Foods under the Turkish Tastes brand as well as their own brands. In this way, we will start to respond concretely to the support provided by our Ministry. In our project, we attach importance to professionals as well as cooperation with organisations. In our work, we first inform chefs and purchasing officials at events in the USA. Afterwards, we invite them to Türkiye to make sure that what we have told them,” he said.
Pointing out that in Türkiye, they introduce the products and culture in production areas, businesses, cultural venues and restaurants with the programmes they have prepared in the concept of “from soil to fork”, he added, “Last year we hosted 3 chefs and this year we will host 6 chefs. After completing the programme in Türkiye, our chefs become our ambassadors in the USA. Our aim from the very beginning was to create the Turkish Tastes Community in the USA. We are becoming a bigger family every year. Türkiye’s exports of fruit and vegetable products to the USA last year soared by 26 percent and reached a volume of 343 million dollars.”
