FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL EXPORTS EXCEED 10 BILLION DOLLARS IN THE FIRST HALF…

According to the Data Panel of TGDF (Federation of Food and Drink Industry Associations of Turkey), food, agriculture and drink industry made an export of 10.15 billion dollars and import of 8.74 billion dollars.

The results of TGDF Digital Data Panel, prepared by Agrimetre based on Foreign Trade Data announced by TURKSTAT have been disclosed.

According to the TGDF Digital Data Panel, in the first 6 months of 2020, the agriculture, food and beverage sector realized 10.15 billion dollars of exports and 8.74 billion of imports.

Exports in June increased by 40.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 1.68 billion dollars. The export of food and agricultural products exceeded the bar of 10 billion dollars in the first half of the year, showed the sector’s net and strong exporter position again.

While the export unit value increased by 4.4 percent in the first 6 months of 2020 compared to the same period of the previous year, the import unit value decreased by 2.1 percent to 515 dollars / ton.

The increase in the export unit value and the decrease in the import unit value were accepted as a positive indicator for the sector. While the highest volume products in foreign trade and the products that stand out in exports in the first half were hazelnut kernels, flour and pasta, respectively, these products accounted for approximately 14 percent of total exports.

The most imported products were wheat, soybean and sunflower oil, respectively. These products accounted for about 22.5 percent of total imports.
