Fevzi Çondur: Aydın province is the home of the world’s highest quality figs

At a meeting hosted by Aegean province of Aydın, home to some of the world’s highest quality figs, dried fig exports for 2024 were evaluated and the 2025 route for dried figs was determined.

At a meeting hosted by Aydın province, home to some of the world’s highest quality figs, dried fig exports for 2024 were evaluated and the 2025 route for dried figs was determined. Industry representatives also attended the meeting, where problems and demands were discussed.

The 2024-2025 Season Dried Fig Sector Meeting was held under the coordination of the Aydın Commodity Exchange. Held in two sessions in the exchange’s conference hall, the meeting addressed the sector’s problems, while producers’ demands and proposed solutions were also discussed.

In his opening remarks at the meeting, Fevzi Çondur, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aydın Commodity Exchange, said, “A total of 69,953 tonnes of dried figs were produced in our country in the 2024-2025 season and 54,085 tonnes of this production took place in our province. Our country, which ranks first in global fig production and exports, exported 57,320 tonnes of dried figs in the 2024-2025 season and 43,213 tonnes of this export came from our province. The average price per kg for the 2024-2025 season is 168.33 TL.”

“As the Aydın Commodity Exchange, we have considered it our duty to convey the demands and expectations of our members to the relevant institutions and organizations at the dried fig sector meetings we hold at the beginning of each season. We have pioneered various efforts to solve encountered problems, enhance the added value of our products, and create new markets,” Çondur added…
