Aydın Artichoke, for which Geographical Indication Application was made by Aydın Commodity Exchange, was announced in Turkish Patent and Trademark Office Geographical Indication and Traditional Product Name Bulletin.
The countdown has started for the geographical sign registration of ‘Aydın Artichoke’, which was applied to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office by Aydın Commodity Exchange.
After the examination of Aydın Artichoke, which was applied and protected by Aydın Commodity Exchange, before the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, it was announced in the Geographical Indication and Traditional Product Name Bulletin dated 01.10.2024.
Aydın Commodity Exchange Chairman Fevzi Çondur made statements on the subject. Çondur and said, “In order to distinguish the Aydın Artichoke grown in our province where the most intensive artichoke production of our country is made and to promote it in a more quality and reliable way at national and international level, we, as Aydın Commodity Exchange, applied to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office with the name ‘Aydın Artichoke’. As a result of our application, Aydın Artichoke was announced in the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office Geographical Indication and Traditional Product Name Bulletin. After the completion of the three-month objection period, we will receive the geographical indication registration certificate of Aydın Artichoke and start our application preparations for the European Union geographical indication registration. Stating that Aydın Artichoke, which is grown in the fertile soils of Aegean province of Aydın and known for its unique flavour, is of great importance for both the agricultural sector and consumers, Çondur added, “This geographical indication registration will not only increase the value of Aydın Artichoke, but will also make significant contributions to the economic development of the region.”
