Europe’s largest dairy cooperative comes out!

Denmark-based Arla Foods and Germany’s largest dairy cooperative, DMK Group, have announced the completion of their merger process, creating Europe’s largest dairy cooperative. The merger, approved by members of both organizations, is targeted for completion in 2025, following the acquisition of necessary official permits.

The new structure will represent over 12,000 dairy producer partners and will achieve an annual turnover of approximately 19 billion euros. The company will operate in more than 100 countries worldwide and will have a broad product portfolio encompassing milk, cheese, butter, milk powder, whey products and functional dairy ingredients.

Scale and Efficiency Will Be Key…

Arla Foods and DMK Group state that the merger’s key objectives include offering producers a stronger cooperative structure, increasing competitiveness in global markets and creating long-term value. The merger will bring together the companies’ expertise, production infrastructure and innovation capabilities under one roof.

The new cooperative aims to respond more quickly to changing consumer expectations, boost its capacity to develop value-added dairy products and accelerate its growth in international markets.
