Olive oil exports to consumer countries surged…

In the 2024/25 season, Türkiye’s olive oil export performance showed significant differences between producer and consumer countries. While olive oil exports to producer countries declined, olive oil exports to consumer countries surged by 11 percent, from 28,697 tonnes to 31,829 tonnes.

The 8-month period of the 2024/25 season has come to an end. Olive oil exports decreased by 20 percent in terms of volume compared to the same period of the 2023/24 season, falling from 48,595 tonnes to 38,802 tonnes. The foreign currency earned from the country’s olive oil exports decreased by 45 percent from 356 million dollars to 197 million dollars, partly due to the decline in olive oil prices.

The share of consumer countries in olive oil exports surged from 62 percent to 82 percent…

According to data from the Aegean Exporters’ Associations, the foreign exchange earnings from olive oil exports to consumer countries decreased by 20 percent to 162 million dollars. The share of consumer countries in Türkiye’s olive oil exports surged from 62 percent to 82 percent.

Interest in Turkish olive oil grows in distant countries…

Emre Uygun, Chair of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association, described the 11 percent spike in olive oil exports to consumer countries as an indication of the Turkish olive oil sector’s growing potential for value-added and branded exports. He pointed out that interest in Turkish olive oil has grown in target markets, particularly in distant countries.

98 percent of olive oil exports to consumer countries are packaged…

“We are determined to shape competition not only through price, but also through quality, sustainability and brand value,” said Uygun, adding, “In this regard, we are taking important steps to boost the export of packaged and value-added products. We aim to reach the end consumer directly with branded products and strengthen the value chain of our products. While packaged olive oil accounts for 63 percent of the country’s total olive oil exports, our packaged olive oil exports to consumer countries reach 98 percent.”
