Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters’ Association (EZZİB) Chairperson Davut Er stated that Turkiye’s olive tree wealth has increased from 90 million to 190 million in the last 20 years.
Er said, “However productivity is another topic that needs to be focused on while increasing the olive tree presence in the next period.”

Reminding the two bans on bulk olive oil exports in the last year, Er explained, “The main focus of the Ministry of Agriculture should not be to restrict exports, but to improve productivity per tree. While Spain produces 1.5 million tonnes of olive oil annually with 330 million olive trees, we achieved a yield of 235 thousand tonnes with our 190 million olive trees this year.”
“When we look at the tree numbers and yields of other producing countries, we see that their productivity is better than ours. The support given to our producers should be increased in order to rise efficiency and the support given to our exporters should be increased in order to rise our packaged product exports,” Er added…
