FERHAT GÜRÜZ: TURKIYE’S FRESH FRUIT AND VEG EXPORTS EXCEEDED 210 MILLION DOLLARS IN APRIL

Ferhat Gürüz, Chairperson of the Board of the Mediterranean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association, announced that Turkiye’s fresh fruit and vegetable exports in April reached 210.4 million dollars with an increase of 4 percent compared to the equivalent period of the previous year.

Emphasizing that the Eastern Mediterranean provinces supported this value by 41 percent, Ferhat Gürüz stated that the sector succeeded in increasing its export volume up to 6 times in the Israeli, Polish and Dutch markets.

The Eastern Mediterranean’s exports in April are 85.8 million dollars…

Noting that the Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable sector evaluated 334 thousand 86 tonnes of products in export markets in April, Mediterranean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters’ Association Chairperson Ferhat Gürüz said, “While our sector exports in general reached 210 million 429 thousand dollars in April, our regional exports rose by 22 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. It was 85.8 million dollars. I would like to express my gratitude to our members all over Turkiye, especially in Mersin, Hatay, Adana and Karaman provinces, which realize 41 percent of the country’s exports.”

The share of tomatoes, lemons, peppers and apples in exports is 63 percent…

Evaluating the fresh fruit and vegetable exports in April according to product groups, Gürüz alos noted that tomatoes, lemons, peppers and apples are in the top ranks and that these 4 products constitute 63 percent of the sector’s exports.

“Among the products we exported the most in April, tomato ranked first with a 43% increase and a value of 60 million dollars, lemon was the second with a 5 percent increase and a value of 25.6 million dollars and pepper was the third with a decrease of 8 percent and a value of 25 million dollars. In the same period, we achieved the highest increases in export volume in pomegranate, tea, mandarin and watermelon. We achieved increases of up to 345 in these products,” he added…
