China to Increase Legal Protection of Agricultural Lands!

BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) — China will speed up the preparation of a farmland protection law, taking another step to protect the country’s farmland, according to China’s Ministry of Natural Resources.

The ministry said that existing regulations, such as the prohibition of non-agricultural use of arable land, will be made into law.

Trying to keep 120 million hectares of farmland above the red line, China always adheres to its strict farmland protection system.

At the end of 2019, China had a total of 128 million hectares of farmland, according to a national land survey. According to Central Document No. 1 released in February, in 2022 the country will develop 6.67 million hectares of high-standard agricultural land, promote national projects on black soil protection and initiate the third nationwide land state census.
