CELAL KADOOGLU: PROBLEMS IN THE IRAQI ECONOMY LED US TO THE GULF MARKET

At the end of the first 11 months of the year in the Southeastern Anatolia (GAİB) region, the exports of the cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products sector increased to 3.5 billion dollars. Cereals, which is the only sector in Southeastern Anatolia that managed to boost its exports this year, also maintained its regional leadership with a share of 30.6 percent in Türkiye. The most exported products of the sector within GAİB were pasta, wheat flour, vegetable oils and biscuit-pasta.

Celal Kadooğlu, Chair of the Southeastern Anatolia Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, pointed out that despite the 5.3 percent decrease in sectoral exports from the region to Iraq in 11 months of the year, this market maintained its first place in the sectoral exports of the region.

“Since the ban on the import of pastries and cakes has been added to the restrictions imposed by Iraq on many products in the field of activity of our sector, the decline in our sectoral exports from our region to this country may continue for a while,” he said…
