According to Chairman of the Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association Hayrettin Uçak, producers and exporters should take into consideration the cut and export dates in order to avoid damage to the sector.

Uçak said, “The producers should harvest the products according to these dates and then send their products for export. All of our producers are required to produce with a great sensitivity by following the cutting date and prioritizing food safety and human health for a sustainable export.”

Stating that especially black figs are sensitive and have a short shelf life, Uçak noted, “Therefore, it should be consumed as fresh in the markets of the country where it goes, while preserving its quality and all features.
