Turkey took action to boost its exports and reduce the trade deficit which amounts to 4.5 billion dollars to South Korea.
Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) organized the participation of Turkey in the Korea Imported Products Fair, which is the only import fair of South Korea and organized by the Korea Importers Association. Turkey took part for the first time in the organization, which was postponed for two years due to the pandemic.
“We will make Koreans love Turkish food products with the TURQUALITY Project”
Emphasizing that the foreign sales of Aegean Exporters’ Associations to South Korea rose by 102 percent in the January-June period of 2021, from 22.2 million dollars to 44.8 million dollars, EIB’s Vice Coordinator Birol Celep said that Aegean Region is a strong exporter and they want to increase the recognition of food products in South Korea and improve their exports.
Celep stated that they are carrying out the TURQUALITY Project with the support of the Ministry of Trade for this purpose. Celep said, “With the TURQUALITY Project, we want to improve our exports of seedless raisins, dried figs, dried apricots, fruit and vegetable products, olives and olive oil, spices, non-wood forest products, stone fruits, cereals, pulses and oilseeds, which we are strong in exporting to the Aegean Region. Korean Imported Products Fair offers us great opportunities in this sense.”
Aegean Exporters’ Associations, at its stand at the Korea Imported Products Fair, made the promotion of olive and olive oil, dried figs, seedless raisins, dried apricots, cereals, pulses, oilseeds, confectionery, fruit and vegetable products, frozen food products, canned food, spices, non-wood forest products, ready-made clothing and apparel, leather and leather products.
While Durmuş Ersin Elçin, Turkey’s Ambassador to Seoul attended the opening of the Turkey stand on behalf of Turkey, Seoul Commercial Counselor Ayşe Ferdağ Tekin gave information about Turkey’s export products to South Koreans and fair visitors at the Turkey stand.
