BESD-BİR announced that there were negative news about the price hikes regarding white meat products at certain times of the year and asked that the evaluations on the price of chicken meat be made on the whole chicken.
The Association of Poultry Meat Producers and Breeders (BESD-BİR) made a statement regarding the criticism of the increase in chicken meat, especially chicken wing prices.
“Whole chicken should be taken as a base not the prices of chicken parts”
The statement pointed out that there are negative news about the price hikes in the production of white meat at certain times of the year.
“In these news, based on chicken piece prices, it is claimed that chicken prices are high and excessive increases have been made,” the Association added.
“Chicken meat products consist of 4 main groups as breast, thigh and wing products, except for whole chicken. We would like to emphasize that it would be correct to evaluate the price of chicken meat over the whole. Since piece products are value-added products, they have a higher price compared to whole chicken. Therefore, it is not realistic to evaluate the prices of piece products. Otherwise, it causes erroneous calculations and leads to misinformation to the public,” the Association concluded…
