Cemal Tomris, who is engaged in beekeeping in Türkiye’s southeastern Anatolian province of Siirt, said that their goal is to rank first in honey production in the country.

According to the data of Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) 2024, Siirt ranked 5th in honey production with 3 thousand 48 tonnes and 10th in the number of beehives with 227 thousand 97 hives. In Siirt region, where the rich flora offers a suitable environment for beekeeping, producers continue their efforts to increase honey production. The target in the province is to be number one in Türkiye in honey production.
Beekeeper Cemal Tomris, who stated that their goal as honey producers is to rise to the first place, said that everyone should do more than their best.
“According to the 2024 data of the Turkish Statistical Institute, Siirt ranked 5th with 3 thousand 48 tonnes of honey production. With 227 thousand 97 beehives, it managed to rank 10th in Türkiye. Of course, this was the fruit of great determination and great labour. Everyone worked hard for Siirt honey.
