Bedri Girit, Chair of the Aegean Fisheries and Animal Products Exporters’ Association, stated that they meet the world’s protein needs in three meals a day.

“Türkiye ranks among the top 10 producers globally in all product groups of fisheries and animal products,” he said.
Pointing out that exports reached 2.857 billion dollars between January and September 2025, he explained, “Our most exported product group is fisheries with 1.553 billion dollars. We exported sea bass and sea bream, of which we are the world’s number one producer and exporter, reaching 484.8 million and 434.2 million dollars respectively. Turkish salmon, a powerhouse of Omega-3, developed as a result of R&D efforts in the Turkish aquaculture sector in recent years, surged by 15 percent, reaching 368.9 million dollars. We exported 93 million dollars in trout too, in which we are the world’s first in cultivation. We also ranked among the top five countries in the world in bluefin tuna exports, with 18.5 million dollars in exports.”
“We achieved 523 million dollars in poultry meat and 298 million dollars in milk and dairy products. We ranked among the top five in exports, reaching 271 million dollars in egg exports and second in honey exports, in which we are the world’s second in production. It reached 23 million dollars. Our largest export markets are the Russian Federation, Iraq, Italy and the Netherlands. Furthermore, growth rates exceeding 300 percent in countries like Algeria, Syria and Kazakhstan clearly demonstrate Turkish food exporters’ ability to access new markets. On the occasion of World Food Day, I would like to emphasize once again that Türkiye is a candidate to become a global centre for safe food and sustainable production,” he added…
