ASÜD: Ice cream exports are on the rise!

Ice cream, exported from Türkiye to more than 30 countries, accounts for 14.5 percent of total milk and dairy product exports. The Packaged Milk and Dairy Products Industrialists’ Association (ASÜD) announced that traditional Turkish ice cream contributes to the promotion of the country by integrating into the tourism sector. The Association reported that exports of packaged ice cream and edible ice products soared by 12 percent in the first six months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, reaching 48,107,560 dollars, compared to 69,796,970 dollars overall in 2024.

“Our traditional products, ayran and ice cream, which provide cooling relief from extreme heat, are dairy products with scientifically proven health benefits,” the report says.

Within this context, ASÜD released a statement regarding the health benefits of ayran and ice cream and their contribution to exports, stating:

“Powerful players in the economy”

“Ayran and ice cream have become powerful players not only on our tables but also in our economy. Approximately 960,000 tonnes of ayran were produced across the country in 2024. With production surging by up to 15 percent each year, ayran is a growing product in both domestic consumption and exports. Ayran exports, particularly to the Middle East and European countries, ramp up the foreign trade potential of our food sector.

Our ice cream sector is also experiencing significant growth. It is exported to more than 30 countries, primarily the Americas and the Middle East. Traditional Turkish ice cream is progressing towards becoming a geographically indicated product and is integrating into the tourism sector, contributing to the promotion of our country. Of our total milk and dairy product exports, It accounts for 14.5 percent of the total. In 2024, we exported these products worth of 69,796,970 dollars. In the first six months of 2025, our exports in the packaged ice cream and edible ice products category surged by 12 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 48,107,560 dollars.”
