Ali Fuat Gürle, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forestry Products Exporters’ Association, said that their exports of non-wood forest products such as laurel, oregano, linden, sage, rosemary, medicinal plants, acorns, etc. decreased by 3 percent to 103 million dollars.
“But I would like to point out that 68 percent of Türkiye’s exports are exported from the Aegean region. The most important reason for this decrease is the shrinkage in demand due to the pyrrolizidine alkaloid limits imposed by the European Union for oregano,” Gürle said.
“I regret to state that the current indicators highlights that 2024 will not be a year of relief for my colleagues. Last month, the Ministry of Trade introduced the 2028 Export Vision. We will have 3 different projects carried out for 4 years in the furniture, paper and medicinal aromatic plants sectors in order to promote the Turkish brand in the best way in markets such as the USA and Germany, which our sectors have chosen as target countries,” Gürle added…
