ALARM BELLS RINGING FOR HAZELNUTS…
EXPORT SEASON STARTS WITH A DECLINE…
Between January and September 2025, 188,000 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported from Türkiye, generating foreign exchange earnings of 1 billion 610 million 926 thousand dollars. Compared to the same period last year, this represents a 12 percent decline in volume and a 7 percent decline in value.

Mehmet Cirav, Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee, stated in his assessment of the matter that exports were made to 120 different countries from the country in the first nine months of the year and that the top five countries to which exports were made were Germany, Italy, France, Poland and Spain, respectively.
Cirav stated that in the first month of the hazelnut export season, which began in September, 14,185 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported, generating 146,575,000 dollars in foreign exchange revenue. He noted that compared to the same month last year, exports decreased by 42 percent in volume and 24 percent in value.
Informing that about hazelnut exports from Trabzon province, Cirav said, “In the first nine months of 2025, 53,455 tonnes of hazelnuts exported from Trabzon generated foreign exchange earnings of 473,116,000 dollars, representing a 14 percent decrease in export volume and an 11 percent decrease in value compared to the same period of the previous year. On the other hand, Trabzon province ranked first in hazelnut exports and that Trabzon alone accounted for 30 percent of the hazelnut exports from our country in the January-September period of 2025.”
“In the first month of the hazelnut export season, Trabzon region exported 1,677 tonnes worth 17,568,000 dollars, representing a 46 percent decrease in volume and a 30 percent decrease in value compared to the same period of the previous season,” Cirav added…
