“AGRICULTURE IS SUPPORTED MORE THAN 1 PERCENT OF GDP IN TURKIYE”

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı answered the questions and criticisms of the deputies during the budget negotiations of his ministry in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) Plan and Budget Commission. Stating that the total debt of farmers is 535 billion liras, Yumaklı said, “While the ratio of farmer debts to revenue was 50 percent in 2018, this ratio is 37 percent in 2022.”

Pointing out that the legal procedures regarding the determination of agricultural lands that have not been processed for two consecutive years have been completed, Yumaklı noted, “The issue of supports allocated to agriculture is a subject that is discussed every year. Let me just say that more than 1 per cent of GDP was provided to agriculture in the 2022-2023 period.”

“With the law on agricultural production planning, we will prepare a 3-year agricultural planning centred on water. In 81 provinces, we have established technical committees and agricultural production planning units,” Yumaklı added.

Let me just say that more than 1 percent of GDP was provided to agriculture in the 2022-2023 period. Let me also tell you the OECD’s Agricultural Policies Monitoring and Evaluation report. 1.33 per cent in 2021 and 1.51 per cent in 2022”.
