According to information obtained from Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) officials, the general agricultural census, which aims to compile data that plays a crucial role in determining agricultural policies, has been launched.

The census, launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and TÜİK, covers all agricultural enterprises (households, household partnerships, companies and cooperatives) engaged in crop or animal production.
Data and software infrastructure has also been developed to enable instant comparison of the information declared in the census with administrative records related to the sector, such as the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS), population records, cadastral information and tractor and combine harvester registration records.

The census will collect data on parcels in agricultural operations, livestock and agricultural equipment and machinery. Agricultural businesses will be asked to provide information on all parcels used for crop production. Additionally, information and documents requested include information on other parcels containing farm buildings such as barns and haylofts, as well as areas such as poplar groves, woods, and rocky areas where no crop production is actually taking place, the license plates of tractors and combine harvesters (if any), and a list of agricultural equipment and machinery owned or used.
The data compilation process is expected to be completed by December 31st. The main results are planned to be published in the second half of 2026…
