Hayrettin Uçak: Cherries, peaches, nectarines and apricots stand out in European exports

August 2026…

Hayrettin Uçak, Chairman of the Turkish Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Associations Sector Board, told an Anatolian Agency (AA) reporter that the productive season pleased both producers and exporters.

Uçak stated that significant increases were recorded in the revenue from products such as cherries, nectarines, peaches and apricots and that the increase in exports brought more foreign currency into the country.

Explaining that exports are one of the indispensable elements for the Turkish economy, he said, “Our agricultural products are truly in high demand in the countries where they are exported. The continuous demand for our products due to their quality, taste, and aroma is boosting our export growth. (In the first 7 months) our exports soared from 631 million to 1 billion dollars. This situation is pleasing to our exporters and producers. This figure reached an all-time high in the first 7 months. Our sector, which exported 631,662,000 dollars in the same period last year, had reached its highest level in 2024 with 816,817,000 dollars.”

Uçak also noted that the significant increases in European countries were pleasing to the sector.

Emphasizing that last year’s crops of stone fruits were severely affected by agricultural frost, he added, “This year, both our yield and quality are truly excellent. Our producers have put in a great deal of effort to cultivate them. As exporters, we have achieved this export success thanks to them. Significant increases have been seen in the Spanish, Italian, and Polish markets in Europe; our exports have multiplied. Fulfilling promises made when selling a product to a trader is particularly important to Europeans.”
