Ali Fuat Gürle: We achieved a 34 percent spike in exports of non-timber forest products

Ali Fuat Gürle, Chair of the Aegean Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association, stated that they have left behind the first half of 2026, a period in which the uncertainties in global trade and rising production costs continued to affect the exporters.

A 34 percent spike in non-timber forest products…

“In terms of our sub-sectors, our exports of paper and paper products stood at 266 million dollars, our furniture exports at 94 million dollars and our exports of non-timber forest products at 81 million dollars. In the non-timber forest products sector, where our Association is a leading exporter across Türkiye, we achieved a 34 percent spike in exports,” Gürle said.

Pointing out that in particular, they have consolidated their position as a strong supplier of oregano, bay leaves and medicinal and aromatic plants, Gürle noted, “When assessing the overall picture, we must look not only at the export figures but also at the conditions our exporters are facing.”

“The fact that developments in exchange rates have failed to keep pace with increases in the costs of raw materials, energy, labour and finance is making it difficult for our companies to compete on price in foreign markets,” he added…
