Veysel Memiş: We enhance our contract farming model with digital technologies

Tat Gıda’s (Tat Food) now-traditional Digital Field Day event, which combines Türkiye’s agricultural production capacity with technology, brought together various stakeholders in the sector and shed light on the transformation of agriculture. At its 9th Digital Field Day, held in the Karacabey district of Bursa, Tat Gıda shared the tangible benefits that digital farming applications bring to production, as well as its vision for sustainable agriculture. The company announced that, whilst achieving a 23 per cent reduction in water consumption through AI-supported irrigation systems, yields among farmers using digital farming applications had increased by between 16 and 28 per cent. The event, which also highlighted the contributions of digital transformation in agriculture to environmental sustainability and resource efficiency, delivered important messages regarding the sector’s future.

Hosted by Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of Tat Gıda (Tat Food), at Camandıra Farm, the 9th Digital Field Day event, was attended by Nuri Oruç, District Director of Agriculture and Forestry for Mustafakemalpaşa; Davut Aytek, District Director of Agriculture and Forestry for Karacabey; Mehmet Aydemir, President of the Mustafakemalpaşa Chamber of Agriculture and Erhan Erdem, President of the Karacabey Chamber of Agriculture, along with academics, farmers, sector stakeholders and solution partners.

Speaking at the opening of Tat Gıda’s 9th Digital Field Day, Veysel Memiş, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of Tat Gıda, stated that data-driven production models not only increase farmers’ productivity but also make a significant contribution to the conservation of natural resources.

Noting that Tat Gıda’s Digital Agriculture Programme, launched in 2016, has now become one of the exemplary initiatives in the country, Veysel Memiş said that by enhancing the contract farming model with digital technologies, they are leading the transformation in agricultural production.

“We expand the scope of digital agriculture applications every year, over 400 farmers are now part of the digital agriculture ecosystem and that digital applications are actively used across an area of more than 20,000 decares,” he added…
