In the January-February period of 2026, 30,000 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported from the country, generating foreign exchange earnings of 389 million 81 thousand dollars. Compared to the same period of the previous year, this export volume decreased by 44 percent in quantity and 8 percent in value.

In his assessment of the issue, Sebahattin Arslantürk, Vice Chairman of the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association (DKİB) Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Sector Committee, stated that exports were made to 87 different countries in the first two months of the year, with the top five export destinations being Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland and Poland.
Arslantürk said that in the first six months of the hazelnut export season, which began in September, 93,062 tonnes of hazelnuts were exported, generating foreign exchange earnings of 1 billion 177 million 963 thousand dollars. “Compared to the same period last year, exports decreased by 50 percent in terms of volume and 22 percent in terms of value,” he said.
Informing about hazelnut exports from Trabzon province, Arslantürk noted, “In the first two months of 2026, hazelnut exports from Trabzon amounted to 4,178 tonnes, generating foreign exchange earnings of 60 million 677 thousand dollars and that compared to the same period of the previous year, there was a 73 percent decrease in export volume and a 57 percent decrease in value. Meanwhile, Trabzon ranked third in hazelnut exports, 16 percent of the hazelnut exports from our country in the January-February period of 2026 were carried out from Trabzon region.”
“In the first six months of the hazelnut export season, 12,356 tonnes worth 159,653,000 dollars were exported from Trabzon, representing a 76 percent decrease in volume and a 66 percent decrease in value compared to the same period of the previous season,” he added…
