World grain production expected to exceed 2.4 billion tonnes in 2025/2026 season…

According to a report by the International Grains Council, global grain production could rise by 83 million tonnes to 2.4 billion tonnes in the 2025/2026 season. Maize and wheat yields are also projected to show significant spikes.

According to the International Grains Council (IGC), global grain production is expected to increase by 83 million tonnes to 2.4 billion tonnes in the 2025/2026 season.

According to the IGC’s latest report, dated August, global grain production for the June 2025/July 2026 period has been revised upwards.

Global grain production expectations, initially quoted as 2.376 billion tonnes in the July report, were raised sharply by 28 million tonnes to 2.4 billion tonnes in August, driven primarily by spikes in maize acreage and yields in the US. Global production is projected to surge by 83 million tonnes year-over-year.

Between June 2025 and July 2026, global maize production is expected to surge by 65 million tonnes to 1.299 billion tonnes, while wheat yields are expected to rise by 11 million tonnes to 811 million tonnes.

The increase in maize alone compared to July was revised to 23 million tonnes, with a global production forecast of 1.299 billion tonnes.

Global grain consumption is projected to increase by 49 million tonnes to 2.391 billion tonnes and global end-of-season stocks are projected to increase by 13 million tonnes to 597 million tonnes.
