Mehmet Ali Işık: South Korea is one of our target markets

Türkiye, the world’s food warehouse, ramped up its exports to South Korea, one of its target markets, by 34 percent to 145 million dollars in 2024.

Mehmet Ali Işık, Chair of the Aegean Dried Fruits and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that Türkiye exports 30 billion dollars worth of agrifood products annually, with the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) receiving the largest share of this export.

“Turkish food sector is able to produce and export in accordance with the certification and regulations of all countries. Within this context Türkiye’s food exports to South Korea surged by 34 percent in 2024, from 108 million dollars to 145 million dollars and that we want to boost this figure even further,” Işık said.

Işık requested guidance support for Turkish food exporters to participate in major food fairs held in South Korea, saying, “Our Ministry of Trade has identified South Korea as a target market. We can participate in food fairs in South Korea and we can host South Korean food importers in the Aegean Region through purchasing delegation organisations.”

“All food associations under the Aegean Exporters’ Associations are currently implementing a successful TURQUALITY Project named ‘Turkish Tastes’ in the US market. We can also launch a TURQUALITY Project targeting South Korea,” Işık added…
